NASA’s Glenn Research Center in Cleveland is offering a free summer program called the NASA Glenn High School Engineering Institute. This program helps high school students get ready for future jobs in aerospace and science.
Who Can Apply?
The program is open to rising juniors and seniors from Northeast Ohio high schools. Students can apply starting Friday, April 11, until Friday, May 9. It’s an in-person program designed to give real-world experience.
What Will Students Do?
During this five-day program, students will work with NASA experts and use real NASA mission projects. They will learn about the engineering design process, solve real problems, and test their ideas. Some of the project topics include:
Reducing noise from jet engines (acoustic dampening)
Creating smart power systems for future space stations
Designing airless tires for simulated lunar missions
Program Dates
Students selected for the program will attend one of these sessions:
Session 1: July 7 – 11, 2025
Session 2: July 14 – 18, 2025
Session 3: July 21 – 25, 2025
Eligibility and Application Details
To join, students must:
Be entering 11th or 12th grade in the 2025-2026 school year
Have at least a 3.2 GPA, confirmed by their school counselor
Submit a teacher recommendation letter
