Students in Dade City, Florida, will get an exciting chance to connect with NASA astronaut Nichole Ayers. She will answer prerecorded questions about science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) from aboard the International Space Station (ISS).
How to Watch the Space-to-Earth Call
The 20-minute live event will be streamed at 1 p.m. EDT on Friday, April 11, on NASA+. Viewers can also learn how to watch NASA content on various platforms, including social media.
About the Event
The event is hosted by Academy at the Farm, a charter school in Dade City, and is open to students and their families. The school hopes this connection will inspire students and show them the amazing work being done on the space station.
Media representatives interested in covering the event must RSVP by 5 p.m. on Wednesday, April 9, by contacting Ashley Cantwell at [email protected] or calling 813-957-8878.
Why the ISS Matters
For over 24 years, astronauts have lived and worked continuously on the ISS. They perform important science experiments, test new technologies, and develop skills for future space exploration. The astronauts communicate 24/7 with NASA’s Mission Control Center in Houston using the Space Communications and Navigation (SCaN) Near Space Network.
Research aboard the ISS helps improve life on Earth and supports NASA’s plans to send astronauts to the Moon and eventually Mars. This is part of NASA’s Artemis program, which inspires the next generation of space explorers and keeps the United States leading in space discovery.
The space-to-Earth call with astronaut Nichole Ayers offers Dade City students a unique opportunity to learn about space and STEM in a fun and interactive way. It shows how space exploration connects us all and encourages young people to dream big and explore science and technology.
